I thought I had all the bases covered when I dismantled efforts to put together a conservative Super PAC focusing on voter turnout in the 9th Congressional District of Virginia. Unfortunately, the reporters running the Blue Ridge Caucus blog on Roanoke.com missed the memo, and ran a story. Let me make this real clear:
- Fightin’ 9th PAC, which I registered, will not exist. We are spending no money, raising no money and do not wish to confuse anyone with Congressman Morgan Griffith’s Fightin’ Ninth PAC.
- The FEC folks are idiots for allowing two PACs with nearly identical names to be registered. I am also an idiot for attempting to file one without looking up the name.
- I contacted Roanoke.com weeks ago with this story. This is what happens when newspapers sit on stories for weeks and choose not to follow up with their sources. Ah well, they’ll figure it out sooner or later.
Just a sad reminder of how much I messed up that idea. It’s all blogging now (and some here-and-there web design and social media work, as I find it).
