House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has earned the endorsement of the National Rifle Association, while his primary challenger didn’t even bother responding to their questionnaire. The NRA released rankings for the June 10th primary, endorsing Cantor and 1st District Congressman Rob Wittman. Wittman is also facing an obscure challenger.
The most interesting part about the Cantor endorsement is the fact that his opponent, economics professor Dave Brat, didn’t even fill out the survey:
Wittman’s challenger completed the questionnaire, receiving an “AQ”, the highest possible rating available to someone who has never held public office (and thus never cast a vote in favor of gun rights). As Brat attempts to malign Cantor’s conservative credentials, it’s worth noting that the 2nd Amendment is one place where Brat can’t even attempt to score points.
